Volker Engel

Before co-founding Uncharted Territory Inc. Volker’s work for the blockbuster film Independence Day earned him the Oscar® for Best Visual Effects in 1996. Previously, Engel was VFX Supervisor for Roland Emmerich’s ”Godzilla”, "Moon 44" and Miniature FX Supervisor for "Universal Soldier".

His other awards include an ‘Emmy’ for the visual effects of “The Triangle”, a Saturn Award and Sci-Fi Universe Award for "Independence Day", a Saturn Award for "Godzilla" and a British Academy (BAFTA) Award nomination for "Independence Day". He also received the "Order of Merit" ("Bundesverdienstkreuz") that is bestowed by Germany’s President.

His publications include "The Making of Independence Day " (with Rachel Aberly) – Harper Prism and "The Making of Godzilla " (with Rachel Aberly) – Harper Prism. Volker is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Producer’s Guild of America, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, the British Academy for Film and Television Arts and the Visual Effects Society.
